Turning dried hardwood
is a slow and somewhat tedious
process compared to turning green wood. I primarily use gouges
and follow with sanding. Sanding with wet dry sandpaper and a
lubricant like mineral oil..
I
start with an 80 grit paper, and work down to 1000 or 1500 grit.
I finish the surface with a light rub on oil
finish. I actually enjoy a wide variety of finish approaches
down
to and including not obsessing about minor tear out and other
imperfections.
